Travelogue

from Urban Paradise LP by The Vonneguts

lyrics

the urban man travels
walking through trees of infinite energy
strapped tight to a soul of conscious and unconscious thought
he journeys through the hallowed abandominiums of space and time
the wanderer is completely unaware of his mystical nature
blinded by temporal concerns, he stares up at the ceiling awaiting
the sleepful rebirth he so desperately hopes to avoid
this gentleman is confused
repeatedly falling short of his own faith held beliefs
nothing seems to sooth his suffering
he becomes enticed by delusional illusions
injecting heartache falling prey to the snare of infatuation
sex drugs and rock and roll
all leave the wandered ravaged with unfulfilled impetus
he redoubles his efforts to close the void
he gets lifted
he gets small
he goes down
he eats out
he plays out
he works the crowd
he gets so out of his mind, he tricks himself to believing
the world is a fucked up place
the wanderers mistrust of society reflects his own insecurity
insecure like a cat in a cradle
disturbed by his self loathing
unable to change
the wanderer finally admits that he is lost
i am no more an individual then you are
we have been socially constructed
little do we know, how little we know
